NEW YORK — Apple and IBM are joining forces to bring iPads and custom apps to Japan's aging senior population.
As a global incubation point for what will surely be a worldwide problem — in fact, 21% of the world will be over 65 by 2050 — Japan is perhaps the best place for Apple and IBM to set off on the next phase of their 8-month old partnership. By 2055, nearly 40% of Japan's population will be considered senior citizens and as of now, it's over-65 population has reached almost 25%.

On Thursday, the two U.S. tech giants announced a partnership with Japan Post Group, Japan’s largest health and life insurance company, to provide iPads and specialized apps to Japan's elderly. Read more...
