Google I/O 2015 – Now on Tap

Google I/O 2015 Now on Tap

There for me was one feature of Android M that stood out above and beyond the rest and that was Now on Tap. Why is it so amazing well let’s have a look.

We all know that Android can support Google Now which is all well and good but is it really useful in its current offering?
Well not according to Google, as they have announced that there will be some big improvements including Now on Tap.

Imagine you are arranging to go to a film with a friend over messenger and they have sent you a movie title you don’t recognize. Now you could just take a chance and say yes to go and see an unknown movie and see how it goes. Sound’s fun right?
Not if you get stuck in a period romantic drama marathon (insert most hated genre here). Don’t worry Google are here to help. All you need to do is tap the Home icon and Google will use its intelligent context awarenes to find that you are looking for info on the film titled mentioned and bring up relevant details. It also prompts you to open the relevant apps where you can find more if they are installed i.e. IMDB in this case.

Pretty cool huh, sounds confusing then check out this video below.

I hope that explains it more clearly but I am loving this new feature and i cant wait to start using it.
This works across multiple apps as you can see in the above video. It will also allow you to find app thats would potentially be relevant to what you are searching so this is great new for App developers.

My favourite feature of this new service is that I can just do a search from within the web browser without having to open another tab!
